Compassionate, Mindful Psychotherapy for a Happier, Healthier You

About CH&W

Welcome- my name is  Jennifer Stevens and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of CT and Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in NY.  I am the founder of Counseling Health & Wellness LLC, a private practice located in Greenwich, CT.  I obtained my Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Fordham University in 2003.  I have extensive training and experience using the following approaches in therapy: cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical-behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment-based treatments, emotion focused therapy, compassion-focused therapy, and mindfulness-based approaches.  I have been providing mental health services throughout the state of CT for over 20 years.  I have experience working with people from all different backgrounds. This includes treating children, adolescents, adults, and their families who suffered from a wide range of cognitive, behavioral, and emotional issues.  I have worked in various settings including inpatient psychiatric treatment, residential programming for children, inpatient substance-use for women, schools, intensive-outpatient treatment facilities, substance-use tele-health treatment and a private group counseling practice.

Here at CH&W, I strive to provide clients a safe, therapeutic space that puts emotional health and wellness first.  My style is interactive, individualized and solution-focused. I provide a non-judgmental and compassionate atmosphere in which individuals can safely explore and work through feelings, thoughts, and beliefs that may be keeping them from fulfilling their inner potential. I’m ready to help you using a combination of scientifically-proven treatment approaches, clinical expertise, and genuine concern for your well-being. I strive to use my knowledge and clinical skills to join you in your journey to overcome barriers in life that cause difficulty and distress. Not only do I treat the underlined issue, but I educate you along the way- leading to greater insight, improved coping strategies, increased self-confidence and self-esteem and overall enhanced quality of life.

Psychotherapy is about more than reducing symptoms and improving functioning. It's about more than using evidence-based therapies to treat mental disorders.  Psychotherapy is about caring for people — past the point of simple symptom-reduction. At the heart of it, psychotherapy is a human relationship: one person showing sincere and skillful care for another. I value maintaining a humanistic and relational approach- focusing on the human element as opposed to focusing on diagnoses or pathologisation.  Instead, I strive to help people find meaning and fulfillment in life, connected to their true purpose and gain personal insight and clarity which leads to increased sense of control, confidence and freedom to move through life. When you’re deeply connected to yourself, you feel more aligned, authentic and alive.

Life and change happens in the now. I focus on being present and engaged with my clients. By connecting in the present, it’s easier to move through life’s ups and downs, work through past challenges and struggles, and set ourselves up for success.  I value approaching mental wellness holistically- nurturing all three dimensions (mind, body, and soul) to achieve optimal balance and wellbeing. I encourage people to take care of and radically accept themselves, take responsibility for their healing, and learn to advocate for themselves.  I help my clients access their own strengths, natural resilience, and inner wisdom and voice.

I look forward to getting to know you, understanding your unique challenges and meeting you exactly where you are at this time, on this day.  My goal is to walk alongside you in this healing process and to help you navigate difficult times.

I hope you will invest in yourself and reach out today!
